Europe Introduce €15bn Climate Change Aid Initiative

Europe has announced plans to offer €15bn to impoverished countries to assist them in coping with the effects of climate change. The European environment commissioner, Stavros Dimas, estimates that poorer countries will need around €100bn annually by 2020, and hopes to cover half of that using international public funding. It is thought likely Dimas will face oppositions of the initiative in Copenhagen this December during an international conference.
